A leading multi-site retailer with stores nationwide is looking for a Financial Controller to join them for a full-time, permanent role in St Albans, Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and ambitious Finance Controller to join one of the UK's leading retail operators.
Responsibilities of your new role
As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for ensuring the accounting team deliver accurate and timely margin reporting, reviewing and approving management and statutory accounts for three subsidiaries. You will assist with the preparation of the monthly Board pack whilst also developing and delivering the budgeting and forecasting process, including analytical review and provision of insight. Responsibilities of your new role
As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for ensuring the accounting team deliver accurate and timely margin reporting, reviewing and approving management and statutory accounts for three subsidiaries. You will assist with the preparation of the monthly Board pack whilst also developing and delivering the budgeting and forecasting process, including analytical review and provision of insight. The Financial Controller will:
- Own and develop end to end processing processes; creating efficiencies and providing insight to leadership teams
- Deliver accurate and efficient reporting for management and statutory accounts
- Define and deliver insightful analysis of national margin by supplier and region
- Lead accounting process reviews and drive efficiency and awareness, identifying systems solutions as appropriate
- Liaise with suppliers to deliver commercially beneficial results
- Identify and resolve accounting issues with suppliers, ensure accurate and complete accounting for all contracts
- Build strong internal relationships, notably with the teams, alongside other Accounting teams
- Assist with building a control environment appropriate for a listed entity
- Review and implement finance processes and procedures
- Act as a key role on audit liaison
The business looks to hire an ACA qualified Financial Controller who demonstrates:
- IFRS and consolidations experience
- Good commercial acumen
- The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels
- Strong leadership skills in order to set direction
- The ability to coach and develop individuals to achieve their best
- Good attention to detail and an analytical mind
- Contract negotiation experience desirable but not essential.
