Our client is a high growth entertainment business based in West London. They are now looking to recruit a best-in-class Financial Controller to partner the FD as the business continues it’s exciting expansion. Having responsibility for a small finance team, the successful candidate will also work with other key stakeholders in the business supporting with all finance related matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the Board of Directors through the implementation of business strategies and objectives
  • Manage and develop a strong financially and operationally focused finance function
  • Manage the finance function to deliver accurate and timely management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, KPIs and supporting commentary for presentation at monthly regular board meetings
  • Ownership of annual statutory reporting, cash flow, budgets and forecasts in line with required timescales
  • Proactive FX and treasury management, ensuring accurate cash positioning
  • Support the management of the relationship between the business and external funders and advisors
  • Continuously seek to develop and enhance existing practices across the organisation to support profit maximisation
  • Develop excellent lines of communication across the wider business
  • Support Creatives in their project management of global projects
  • Support the organisation through achievement of growth plan over next five years to exit
  • Deliver financial models to aid in longer term business planning
  • Management of IT systems and subsequent upgrades and development
  • Maintenance of a strong financial and operational control environment, implementing robust financial controls and procedures as required
  • Liaising with Company Bankers, Solicitors and Auditors and investors as necessary
  • Other ad hoc duties as required and as the business develops further
It is critical that the Financial Controller supports the FD on a day to day basis whilst meeting the needs of other stakeholders both internally and externally to the business.
  • Qualified ACA or CIMA accountant with a strong academic track record and appropriate post-qualification experience
  • Experience in and understanding of the creative world would be desirable
  • Experience and understanding of all investee side aspects of Private Equity environment would be desirable
  • Experience of working in a multi-site or international business would be desirable
  • Experience of managing and developing a small finance function
  • Experience of managing a third party accounting function
  • Solid technical knowledge of statutory accounting, taxation and compliance
  • Ability to see the “bigger picture” and how accounting function can contribute to achievement of strategic objectives
  • Engaging style of communication, the ability both to build strong working relationships across all levels within the company and to work with small teams at Board and Finance Function levels
  • Strong financial controls and cash management experience
  • Strategic exposure, experience in the implementation and delivery of business strategy
  • Proactivity and change orientated, using initiative to drive continuous improvement
  • Credibility with senior management, peers and external advisors
  • A strong manager of people, ability to coach and develop a finance team
  • Self-starter, willing to be involved in the detail, whilst having sufficient gravitas to support and challenge senior management and C-level people as required
  • Strong IT and systems skills, in particular MS Excel with experience of development and implementation of new business wide software systems
  • Self-motivated, organised and capable of developing in the current role over time with the ambition and drive to develop
