Financial Controller/Director doe

Due to the forthcoming retirement of the current FC, David Watson Transport Ltd are now looking to recruit a replacement Qualified Accountant to join the business in a varied and hands on Financial Controller/Director role, working with an established and successful Transport Company with a number of nationwide Depots.

The role reports directly to the Managing Director, offering the opportunity to progress to Finance Director.

The successful candidate will ideally have worked for a family run or medium sized business and be used to working in a varied all-round role as some of the duties below will outline:

• Manage and report on all day to day finance duties and development of a finance officer
• Prepare month end and year end accounts
• Ensure full Treasury Management including Confidential Invoice Discounting
• Report to directors and attend meeting as required
• Development of business strategy with management team and review Business plan
• Will have experience of processing Wages and salaries and be conversant with the statutory rules as appropriate
• Understanding of relevant VAT & PAYE regulations
• Review and support all major purchasing decisions including utility costs
• Overall management of a small accounts team and to be ‘hands-on’
• Ideally be conversant with Sage 200 Professional Accounts and Sage 50 Payroll & HR

This is a unique position and the successful candidate will have previous experience gained from working in a similar varied role within a business along with an accountancy qualification.
