Senior Cyber Security Specialist - Manchester

As the Senior Cyber Security specialist of this tech focused leading global Law Firm you will be pivotal within their cyber security function for Threat Detection and Prevention, Security Infrastructure, Incident Handling, Security related projects and the management of relevant suppliers. More specifically, but not exclusively, the role will involve the following:

Role Responsibilities:
  • Taking an operational view to cyber security, identifying issues and being responsible for their resolution and looking for, reporting on and implementing further improvements.
  • Further developing the cyber intelligence capability of the business utilising new and relevant technologies and investigative techniques to keep on top of current and emerging threats.
  • Responsible for installation, maintenance, operation and upgrade of all security related infrastructure and review of current processes and practises to ensure their correct application.
  • Full incident handling responsibility, investigating, monitoring, organising resolution and subsequent changes to ensure prevention. Conducting forensic investigations as required.
  • Be the project lead for all security related projects and provide advice and consultancy for all other IT projects from a security standpoint.
  • Management of relevant suppliers, their performance and capability in order to maintain the necessary level of protection/cover and identify when change is required.

  • Prior Experience: Excellent Cyber Security experience and having worked in an operational IT role. Plus: ITIL certification, CISSP, CEH, ISO27001 Lead Implementer, MCSE etc.

The Ideal Candidate

This is a role that demands someone who has strong experience and capability within Cyber Security that can be demonstrated from their prior work experience. You must have experience working under the ITIL framework and in addition we are looking for the following:
  • Excellent Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS)
  • Vulnerability scanning and penetration testing techniques experience
  • Hands on experience of current Windows server environments, Active Directory and Group Policy;
  • Working knowledge of - Juniper Junos, Checkpoint Firewall, QOS, MPLS, routing protocols, Layer 3 Switches, VLANS;
  • Experience managing/implementing network security devices and associated protocols;
  • Understanding of McAfee and Trend antivirus products;
  • Exposure to SIEM technologies;
  • Strong packet analysis skills;
  • Strong understanding of secure network design principles.
  • ITIL Change management experience
