Based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, our recognisable, market leading retail client is looking for a qualified accountant to join their team as a Finance Analyst and value through advanced Excel modelling and what if scenario planning to calculate costs and forecasting.

This job would suit an ACCA/CIMA/ACA Qualified Accountant coming from a retail or FMCG background with a good understanding of trading in order to calculate risks and loses to profit. The job will include owning the modelling and reporting findings to the Finance Director and Head of Commercial Finance.

Given the diverse, commercial nature of the business, this is a hands-on role and an excellent opportunity for a driven finance professional with plenty of scope to add value, through supporting the business to understand the financial impact of scenarios. There is no guarantee but there is a possibility of permanent positions coming up internally too.

They have now entered an exciting new phase through a merger, and it opens up a fantastic opportunity for a experienced Analyst to join the team on a niche but exciting project over the next 6 months.

The successful individual will have advanced Excel skills with previous experience in a Senior Finance analyst position who can work on their own and problem solve. Great communication skills are essential as the candidate must be able to build relationships with stakeholders. The candidate should be organised and able to work in a team environment. It is vital the Finance Analyst is highly numerate, methodical and has excellent attention to detail.

Duties will include:

• Develop and maintain a strong relationship with group finance and liaise with them daily regarding the project
• Take over and develop an Excel model, built by external consultants, to calculate and support the costings
• Ensure the model considers all potential commercial aspects- a lot of this will be around scenarios and calculating the lost trading impacts
• Understanding of P&L from top to bottom, sales down to EBITDA
• Ad-hoc analysis throughout the month on trading impact and margin reports
