  • Are you a Qualified and commercially proven Financial Controller?
  • Are you ready for your first FD role for the next stage of your career journey?
  • Have you experienced working in companies with £50-100 million turnover, fast moving, high growth & profit, and entrepreneurial where decisions are made quickly and the detailed support of finance is essential??
  • Are you good with the detail but with the communication skills to report effectively to Group and in a multi-site environment and committed to continuous improvement?

I am currently representing a long standing client, a highly regarded business who has identified the need for a driven and commercial, finance professional to work with the Group CFO, Divisional MD and the Board, and Senior Management Team to continue to grow the business while strengthening existing processes and controls.. The business has already experienced impressive commercial returns over the last 5 years through acquisition and organic means and your role will strike the balance between developing strong processes and controls while also providing insightful commercial analysis to the business and Group.

The business is a fast moving, high volume, transactional business with operations across the UK. This is a role that has been created due to the growth of the business and the broader Group which has led to the identification of the need for a driven and capable, senior finance professional in the largest business in the Group to allow the CFO to focus more on Group strategy knowing this £100+ million turnover business will grow with strong financial leadership.

You will be tasked with reviewing the existing finance structure, reports and controls and developing the commercial service that finance can deliver to the business - both in terms of business as usual and supporting the identification and maximisation of commercial opportunities as well as execution of existing commercial partnerships. You will also be able to exhibit strong cash management and forecasting experience. You will also require a forensic eye and proven track record of improvement in structures and controls. This will also require effective communication and influencing skills to bring the existing, stable, finance team with you.

You must also be a confident, proven self manager and self starter. You will be able to clearly exhibit success in a similar role / business or be seeking the next obvious step in your development. You could be an FD looking for a bigger challenge or an FC seeking a bigger role.

As well as premium training and qualification, it is anticipated you will have a minimum of 5 years PQE, the majority of which would have been gathered in a commercial environment where you have had the opportunity to develop your strategic value to a business. Experience in a business illustrated by high volumes, low product values and a supply chain / logistics feel would also be beneficial.

In turn you will have a fantastic opportunity to develop your role within a VC/PE backed business where you can really forge your reputation and have the opportunity to ultimately develop your career to a CFO level based on your capability.

For a confidential discussion, please contact Paul Howarth as soon as possible.
