Multi-Billion euro, international energy business require a treasury accountant to join their Head Office team.

This is a key, high-profile role within a small, senior Head Office team, working closley with the Group Finance Director and other other Senior Group Finance and Tax Heads.

Purpose of the job

The main responsibilities of this role are:
  • Accounting for treasury instruments and transactions within the group
  • Production of month-end and year-end Treasury accounting deliverables including Treasury disclosures
  • Ownership of hedge accounting – CFH, NIH and FVH
  • Analysing complex, unusual and new treasury transactions, and liaison with auditors on Treasury accounting matters
  • Designing and implementing improvements to the treasury accounting system, processes and controls
  • Assistance in wider accounting and reporting as part of wider finance team.
Main Responsibilities

It is important to be able to seek improvements and embrace change as we improve the treasury operations in the company.

Key Dimensions:
  • Efficient execution of month end treasury reporting and additional requirements for Year end and Interim reporting for a range of treasury instruments
  • Valuation of derivatives using Bloomberg, SAP system and manual calculations derived from forward rates
  • Preparation of detailed accounting entries for Cash flow hedging, Net investment hedging and Fair value hedging, monitor and periodic assessment of hedge effectiveness
  • Maintenance of treasury hedge accounting documentation
  • Design and implementation of improvements to treasury accounting systems, processes and controls
  • Manual calculation of CVA, DVA and Cost of hedging/ currency basis
  • Preparation of budget and forecast data for treasury instruments
  • Preparation of treasury technical accounting memos for complex, new, and unusual transactions, plus liaison with group auditors on all treasury accounting matters
  • Preparation of all treasury disclosures in the group annual and interim financial statements
Additional responsibilities
  • Support preparation/ review of group consolidation
  • Support preparation/ review of various company statutory accounts and Interim and Annual Group Financial statements
  • Balance sheet reconciliations for Treasury GL accounts
  • Work in close collaboration with the Tax team on relevant month-end data and on various ad-hoc treasury queries
  • Provide relevant treasury information to other business units/ head office departments
  • Ad hoc Finance and Treasury Projects as required
  • Maintain and develop treasury and accounting skills
Key internal and external relations
  • Internal: Primarily the Group accounting team and the Treasury Department; plus other members of the Group Finance and Tax Departments
  • External: Auditors and advisers
Job requirements

Vocational Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent)
  • Qualified accountant
  • Experience of accounting for treasury transactions
  • Fluent in English
  • ACT qualification desirable – training to be provided
Behavioural competencies:
  • Financially and commercially literate
  • High degree of numeracy
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Desire to learn/ develop
  • Attention to detail
Experience required:
  • Working knowledge of treasury accounting
  • Understanding of Financial instrument accounting standards
  • Accounting experience of Treasury gained as an auditor or in an accounting role
Specific knowhow and technical skills:
  • Knowledge of accounting standards applicable to Treasury
  • Microsoft Office Pack (Word, Excel, Access), intermediate to advanced level
  • Knowledge of SAP and Treasury systems an advantage
