With a stock of 8000 homes, Salix Homes are a multi-award-winning social housing provider based in Salford, Greater Manchester. As a not-for-profit charitable organisation, they put their customers at the heart of everything they do, from investing in homes and communities, to how they go about providing their services. Starting in 2007 as an arm’s length management organisation (ALMO) operating on behalf of Salford City Council in 2014 the tenants voted that they take over ownership of their homes and became a stand-alone Registered Provider (RP) providing the people of Salford with the high quality of homes they deserve in 2015.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Service Director you will lead yourself, and others, to make a real difference in the work you do together. This means being accountable for delivering results, in a responsible, innovative, inclusive and enthusiastic way, and at all times acting as an ambassador for Salix Homes.

In addition, you will uphold our values, maintain the integrity of our organisation, and act as a role model, by demonstrating, and setting the standards that shape our culture, and how we go about our business.

Developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders is vital along with the appetite and ability to identify and drive improvements supporting and playing an integral part in delivering the corporate plan. You will be responsible for:
  • Financial and statutory accounting
  • Management accounting
  • Budgeting and financial business planning
  • Treasury management
  • Performance and business intelligence
  • Risk and insurance
  • Procurement
  • Health and safety (excluding property compliance)
THE PERSON

It is essential you are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with proven and practical experience of working in the housing sector.

Ideally you will possess wider exposure to some of the broader aspects of the role but for the right candidate this can be gained whilst undertaking the role if you have demonstrable experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.

The role will operate within a challenging but dynamic environment and will give the successful applicant exposure to the board and both internal and external stakeholders so the ability to build trusted and long standing relationships are key.
