Set up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. We do this by keeping crime out, protecting children and vulnerable people and ensuring the commercial gambling industry is run fairly and openly and we work with the legal system, the public health system, community groups and the industry itself to understand how we can protect the interests of as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.
An exceptional opportunity has now arisen for a high calibre accounting professional to join us as our Chief Financial Officer and ensure we have first-class financial planning and control processes in place. This role is a member of our Executive Team and as a member of that team, you will support the delivery of the Corporate Strategy and deliver joined up solutions to make the Gambling Commission a great place to work.

As our Chief Financial Officer, you will ensure the financial health of the Gambling Commission, taking responsibility for our financial planning, management and governance. In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that you have had experience in either a government department or an ALB.
In this important role, you will lead the development our long-term financial plan, aligned to strategic objectives and will ensure effective procurement and supplier management, delivering cost-effective services.

- Recruit, develop and coach your team, supporting them to achieve their goals
- Create a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensure the effective development of audit and financial risk management
- Advise Managers on financial matters
- Act as a visible member of our Executive Team and support the delivery of our corporate strategy
- To be a qualified, senior accounting professional with a wide breadth of public sector experience
- Experience of developing finance plans, strategies and polices, as well as public sector procurement
- Previous experience of acting as an advisor to senior teams, ensuring compliance with accounting and financial reporting requirements
- Experience of working with internal and external auditors to ensure excellent accounting and reporting standards are maintained
- Team leadership experience, including coaching, development and performance management
- A track record of working as part of a wider leadership team to deliver organisational goals and objectives
