Legal Counsel

A Commercial Litigation Solicitor is sought for a unique and varied Legal Counsel role based in Sheffield. Offered on a full-time, permanent basis, the In-House Counsel will advise on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters in relation to international projects alongside a team of experience lawyers from a variety of backgrounds.

Responsibilities of your new role

Reporting into the General Counsel and working closely with sales, project management and commercial teams, your key duties as Legal Counsel will include:

• Working with sales teams to acquire large international projects; drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, managing negotiations, and continuously assessing risk
• Advising the business on a range of matters throughout project execution; working closely with project managers and colleagues in local offices, drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, dealing with pre-litigious activity and advising on contentious and non-contentious construction matters
• Handling escalated disputes and a range of commercial litigation, including some construction litigation

This is an unusual opportunity for a litigator to make the move In-house. You will use your expertise in contentious matters while developing knowledge and experience in non-contentious issues as you advise on complex, large scale projects around the world.

Candidate requirements

The business seeks a Legal Counsel able to demonstrate:

• 3+ years of PQE
• Experience in a broad range of commercial litigation
• Some experience of construction litigation or insight into heavy industry (not essential)
• Strong communication and decision-making skills
• The desire to travel and work on an international basis

Salary

In exchange for your litigation expertise and hard work as Legal Counsel, you will be awarded £50,000 - £70,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
