Solicitor/Legal Specialist needed in Hartlepool

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Permanent In House Solicitor / Legal Specialist to join a dynamic manufacturing company in the Oil and Gas sector based in Hartlepool.

JOB TITLE: Legal Specialist

Responsible to: Contracts Manager

Role Purpose:

As a qualified Solicitor with experience in the resolution of disputes and warranty claims, the successful candidate will find this an exciting and challenging role in a friendly environment. The position is part of a team and will provide legal and commercial support across a range of matters including disputes and claims. This role will also deal with contract preparation in a dynamic and expanding company within Offshore Wind, Tidal, and Oil & Gas Industries.

Main responsibilities of the role:

1) Legal support in defence and resolution of warranty and other claims with both customers and subcontractors.

2) Negotiate as part of a team to proactively settle any claims directly with customers and subcontractors.

3) Provide legal advice to Project Managers in relation to the contract terms

4) Reviewing terms and conditions of contract and advising on exceptions.

5) Conducting contract negotiations with customers, to agree mutually acceptable contract terms that minimise risks to the Company.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the role holder is required to undertake such duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required from time to time.

To have read, understood and comply with the company Health and Safety manual, policies and procedures and to implement these, at all times, to ensure both your own safety and the safety of those who may be affected by your actions or omissions.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Qualifications:

Essential:

Experience in the resolution of disputes and warranty claims.

Experience in the review and negotiation of terms and conditions of contract.

Good administrative skills are needed and must be computer literate with current software packages, such as Microsoft Office Package.

The successful candidate should possess good communication skills, together with the ability to work calmly under pressure, and to produce work to tight deadlines paying attention to detail.

Desirable

Experience in the renewables industry and offshore environment would be beneficial.

Qualifications

A qualified Solicitor or formal legal qualification is required.
