Senior Legal Counsel needed in High Wycombe

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Senior Legal Counsel to join a dynamic, fast-growing Healthcare Organisation based in High Wycombe.

You will be joining one of the UK's leading independent sector providers of diagnostic services and healthcare solutions. You will be working alongside operational, finance, clinical and IT professionals and will be advising colleagues based across the UK from our headquarters near High Wycombe.

The Senior Legal Counsel will:
  • Review and approve commercial contracts and support the business in negotiating these contracts to a conclusion.
  • Provide senior level legal point of contact for managing directors and head of departments.
  • Lead and implement legal projects and initiatives within the business, as required.
  • Ensure that the Group undertakes its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise the business on commercial, competition, data protection and regulatory issues generally.
  • Undertake company secretarial duties.
  • Review documentation of the company's banking arrangements and advise on contracts.
  • Support and supervise junior members of the legal team
  • Supporting the Border Agency Licensee as Key Contact and TUPE / Acquisition support.
  • Manage external solicitors particularly in connection with M&A transactions
  • Prepare advice for the board on topical subjects.
  • Ensure that all databases are kept up to date.
  • Report to the Head of Legal Services.

Essential Requirements:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant leadership teams and their direct reports.
  • Legal Counsel will need to influence and persuade other managers and staff throughout the business to adopt and comply with legal policies and requirements. This will require the demonstration of knowledge and experience of the application of legal principles to the commercial environment.
  • It is a key requirement that Legal Counsel is able to work closely with the other members of the team, and has the flexibility, planning and organisation to cover and (where necessary) manage elements of each team member's workload. Senior Legal Counsel may also be required to provide mentorship and management of other legal team members.
  • Broad technical knowledge of corporate and commercial legal issues
  • Capable of handling negotiations and advising company regarding contractual and other requirements and risks
  • Willing to handle legal projects that are not within areas of previous expertise, i., willing to learn on the job and develop new areas of competence
  • Strong project management skills and the demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise his/her own workload
  • Ability to analyse and recommend solutions to legal issues. This will involve balancing the need to minimise legal risk with the need to take commercial risks.
  • The ability to communicate complex legal concepts in plain, simple and easily understood language.

Essential Qualifications.
  • 6+ years post qualification experience as a solicitor/barrister in England and Wales
