Top tier international law firm are currently looking to recruit a non-contentious lawyer to join their growing Insurance and Wealth team in their Financial Services Group- this role can be based in either London or Edinburgh.

Role Profile:

Clients include major global and UK wealth and insurance businesses such as Aegon, Allianz, Aviva, AXA, BUPA, Direct Line Group, HSBC, Legal & General, Mercer, Royal London, RSA, Standard Life and Zurich. Insurance and wealth is a fast-growing part of the firm's financial services practice, involving a wide range of the firm's top clients in banking, life insurance and wealth management.

The work will be both transactional and advisory, advising these household-name clients and other similar clients on their growing and strategically-important insurance and wealth businesses, particularly:

  • Advising on strategic change transactions, including customer migration projects, insurance business transfers and outsourcing arrangements.
  • Advising on insurance and wealth product design and development.
  • Advising on customer terms and conditions and related documentation.
  • Drafting and negotiating distribution and outsourcing agreements.
  • Advising on consumer legal and regulatory requirements including unfair terms, clear communications, IDD, MiFID and PRIIPS.
  • FCA and PRA regulatory issues (including investigations and enhanced supervision projects).
  • Providing expert support for insurance and wealth M&A and IPO transactions for investment businesses (including investment platforms).
  • Advising on reinsurance agreements.

Team Structure:

The Insurance and Wealth team consists of a group of lawyers who focus primarily on non-contentious work and sits within the Financial Services Sector, providing opportunities for close collaboration and cross-team working.  The team's clients encompass insurers, banks and wealth managers focused on retail investment arrangements, leveraging the very strong financial services relationships of the firm.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Ideally, you will have some experience and exposure to some of these areas of practice and experience of advising in relation to financial services regulation. The successful candidate should be able to be flexible in terms of undertaking similar tasks in relation to insurance and wealth products. The PQE range for this role is circa 3-7 PQE.
  • The successful candidate will have relevant experience in private practice or have worked in-house with exposure to retail wealth and life insurance products and services. You should be technically excellent but, equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development.
