A unique opportunity to support the Operational directors of an entrepreneurial, privately owned business - with the potential to become CEO in the future.
Client Details
A diverse, privately owned group of c£200M t/o
Description
The CFO will be responsible for a broad range of activities, both Financial and Operational.
Primarily, however, the remit of the CFO is to work alongside the board of directors, to help them build their businesses.
Managing the Finance function will, naturally, be part of the CFO's role, but the main thrust is around providing support to the various directors of the organisation. The CFO will act as a business partner and will help build business cases and allocate resource to ensure that those projects are successful. The CFO will also be responsible for raising funds for various projects, as well as ensuring that they are given the necessary support to succeed.
This is a very commercial CFO role and requires someone with a similar outlook.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a diverse role - both hands on and strategic, and will be able to demonstrate previous fund raising experience. They will also have the potential to become the CEO in the future.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with previous experience of raising funds and of managing relationships with the bank.
This is a privately owned business who operate in very tangible sectors (property, construction, retail etc), and who typically borrow from retail banks rather than PE houses or investment banks. Previous experience of raising capital (typically £0 - £2M) is extremely useful.
A hands on, down to earth approach is essential, as is the ability to partner non finance directors on a daily basis.
Previous experience of working for an entrepreneurial family / privately owned business of c£50M+ t/o would be advantageous - this is not a typical "corporate" opportunity!
Experience of presenting business cases to (retail) banks to raise project capital is extremely useful.
The willingness and potential to move into a CEO role in the future is also desirable.
The successful candidate is likely to be based near (or able to relocate to) North East London, East London, or Essex.
Job Offer
A competitive salary and bonus.
The opportunity to become CEO of a £200M t/o business.
A genuinely unique, varied and diverse role.
