We are recruiting for a £multi-billion market business who are a leader in their field and are part of the FTSE 100 index. They have experienced significant international growth. An opportunity has arisen within the Legal and Compliance function, focusing on trade compliance.

The role

The position works closely with the business and legal team, reporting directly into the Group Head of Legal. It is a hands-on post where you will be the go-to person on all trade compliance matters. You'll actively engage in supporting and developing the global supply chain. Key responsibilities are listed below:

  • Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of UK, EU and US export controls and trade sanctions laws and regulations
  • Obtain and administer export licenses and provide advice on the terms and conditions within it
  • Review and advise on Exports Control/Trade Sanctions requirements to the Sales, Finance, Commercial and Procurement departments, amongst others
  • Work with the wider Legal & Compliance team to produce and improve in-house systems ranging from templates to business process documents
  • Implement risk assessment strategies on cross border activities alongside the legal team
  • Support training, update learning material and ensure the team are regularly briefed on trade compliance issues

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Law, Engineering, Maths or Science
  • 3 years plus experience in handling trade compliance (export controls and trade sanctions)
  • Sector experience - manufacturing, engineering, distribution, technology (not essential but advantageous)
