I'm currently recruiting for a Group Financial Controller to join a retailer for a maternity leave contract.

The role of the Group Financial Controller will lead a team of 12 and will cover the following:

Financial Reporting

  • Timely and accurate preparation of all financial reporting, including weekly sales reporting, margin reporting, monthly management accounts, KPIs and the statutory audit process
  • Bank and covenant reporting
  • Store reviews - ROIs post 1 year of trading
  • Bank relationship management
  • Effective communication of financial results to ensure op and exec boards fully understand key data and can make informed decisions on their areas of the business
  • Supporting the management accounts team to ensure monthly reporting is completed in a timely way

Financial Control

  • Enforcing, developing and implementing financial policies to control the business
  • Evaluating capex proposals to guarantee that optimal use is made of investments
  • Ensuring communication in the business of financial controls and promoting best practice

Leading the tax planning and compliance across all territories including:

  • Corporation tax - UK and US returns, capital allowances, transfer pricing arrangements
  • Sales taxes - managing the process of UK and European VAT returns, VAT inspections, US sales tax audits and submissions across 5 states
  • Tax compliance audits
  • Working with the Senior Commercial Finance Manager in exploring wholesale and concession arrangements in new territories

Systems & Processes

  • Systems development - review, devise and implement changes to the accounting systems (in conjunction with the IT function and software suppliers) to ensure that processes are continually improved to keep pace with the business
  • Working with the Senior Commercial Finance Manager on systems projects
  • Continual improvement of processes, reviewing all tasks performed by the team and updating processes where required

They are looking for candidates who are fully qualified, have experience of working in a multi-site business and have stock experience. You must be able to start in the next few weeks also.
