The Opportunity

Nigel Wright have been appointed to support Beyond Housing with the recruitment of a Chief Financial Officer, which is a newly created position within the organisation.  This is a key appointment following the creation of Beyond Housing in October 2018 from the merger of Coast and Country Housing in Redcar and Yorkshire Coast Homes in Scarborough.

Beyond Housing is at the very start of its journey with a clear agenda for change. They require a Chief Financial Officer who can demonstrate expertise in building robust finance teams and infrastructure. The Chief Finance Officer will be the strategic and finance conscience of the organisation. 

The CFO Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be expected to make a leading contribution to the development and execution of the Beyond Housing strategy and bring a balanced approach to risk. It is critical to be able to challenge decision making and instil robust control and governance at all levels of the organisation. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to business partner with the Executive team, showing empathy, building strong relationships, sharing insight & feedback and helping to work through problems. 
 
You will have experience of leading an organisation within a complex and large debt funding structure and be able to demonstrate acumen to structure all funding arrangements in line with strategic objectives.  You will be comfortable at working in a dynamic and changing organisation and excited by the prospect of being able to lead and shape the change. 
 
 
The role will require interaction across all functions within the organisation and will be central to embedding the values of the newly formed organisation with all stakeholders:

Person Specification

The future CFO will be a skilled communicator and negotiator, with the ability to build strong relationships within a multi stakeholder environment.  The following non-exhaustive attributes would be advantageous:

• A professionally qualified accountant
• The successful candidate will have a real interest and passion for social housing and be inspired by the opportunity to shape Beyond Housing and lead it into the future.
• High energy, with a drive, desire and excitement to develop all aspects of the organisation including driving forward major housing developments and leveraging assets.
• Have significant experience of operating at a strategic level and be able to drive business growth
• An open and positive style with the ability to develop relationships at all levels of an organisation and with significant external stakeholders
• Must operate with a high level of integrity and professionalism.  A bi-product of which will be the ability to build trust.
• An understanding of the Social Housing sector and the dynamics of the wider Public Sector could be advantageous but is not an absolute pre-requisite.
