‘DELIVER STRATEGIC FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP'

World Horse Welfare, founded in 1927, is a leading international horse charity dedicated to promoting horse welfare worldwide through a combination of education, campaigns and hands-on work with horses. We support the responsible use of horses in sport, and work to help ensure regulators such as the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) meet their responsibilities to their horses. It has a turnover of over £10.8 million and is wholly dependent on voluntary donations, gifts in wills, trusts and grants to fund its work as it receives no national lottery or government funding. We are looking to recruit a Director of Finance & Administration which is a pivotal role and an exciting time to join the organisation to help us to achieve our ambitious plans for the future.

The role will be based at the charity's Head Office in Snetterton, Norfolk but will require some travel commitments, including travelling to London and to the charity's other rehabilitation centres in Somerset, Lancashire and Aberdeenshire. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will be a member of the charity's Senior Management Team and be responsible for coordinating the Trustees' General Purposes & Finance (GP&F) Sub-Committee. As a Director of the charity, this post will have several key relationships in addition to the Chief Executive. These will include World Horse Welfare Trustees (especially the Treasurer and the Chair of the GP&F Sub-Committee), the other Charity Directors, the Head of IT and the Human Resources Officer. You will provide professional advice to Trustees, the Chief Executive and staff on all matters of financial and resource management.

The successful candidate will be CCAB Qualified and you will be a finance professional with drive and ambition. The organisation has a hands-on, problem solving, team culture so it is essential that you have the ability to roll your sleeves up and be involved in the day to day operations as well as coaching and influencing others to continue to innovate and improve our processes. You will have strong skills in strategic planning, monitoring and reporting on the delivery of plans and projects.

This is a full time role, and the benefits include:

  • Pension scheme (6% employee:12% employer)
  • Private Health Scheme
  • Cash Health Plan
  • 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays) plus extended Christmas shutdown.

This is an exciting time to join World Horse Welfare, and if you feel you have the drive and the passion to help us achieve our mission, we can offer you a role that is not only hugely satisfying but brings great benefits and a stimulating and supportive working environment.
