Tax lawyer looking to become an underwriter?

Our client is a newly created specialized managing insurance agent/broker based in the City looking for a Tax lawyer to join its team as a senior underwriter to underwrite M&A insurance risks (Warranty & Indemnity Insurance, Tax Liability Insurance and M&A Specific Risk Insurance) and to be an integral part of developing and growing the business.

No previous underwriting experience is necessary but you must have worked alongside corporate M&A lawyers advising on Tax Liability Insurance. 

Your responsibilities would include: 

·    Analysing deal documentation, due diligence materials and processes employed in M&A transactions, to assess the insurability of each risk. 
·    Drafting and negotiating bespoke policy wordings to contractually document the risks. 
·    Maintaining and developing relationships with various distribution channels including brokers, law firms, investment banks, accountants, private equity funds and corporates on the acquisition trail or going through a disposal process.
·    Attending client meetings, seminars and marketing events and representing Themis, at such events.

This is a great role for someone who is looking to move away from the legal world and start a new career in a fast-pace and client facing role. You would be a senior member of the team and as the business grows, will be expected to lead more junior members of the team and help drive the business forward.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years tax experience from a top UK law firm. You must be commercial, a team player and enthusiastic.
