This is a rare and outstanding opportunity for a Senior Technical Accountant to join a growing and successful FTSE 250 business based in Birmingham, where they are looking for a rising star to join their Group Finance team. If you enjoy advising on ongoing changing accounting standards, such as IFRS, and have an interest in Group Reporting, this is a fantastic opportunity to progress.

As Senior Technical Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing on-going technical accounting matters, both at Group level and with Operations.
  • Reviewing, interpreting and advising on the impact of new accounting standards, and managing the implications on a timely basis.

  • Preparing and updating formal Group accounting policies and maintaining the Group Finance Manual.

  • Maintain technical rigour across the Group. This will be through regular dialogue, support and challenge to the operating divisions, as well as managing the formal policies.
  • On-going control of the impact of IFRS 16, rolling out the standard into 2019 and reporting the internal and external impacts.
  • Supporting key areas of Group reporting. In particular, the Half Year Report and Year End Annual Report, preparing key notes to the accounts and analysis (including external audit support), along with some reporting and analysis on a monthly basis.

  • Responsible for managing all Head Office statutory accounts to a strict deadline, developing new automated software for the accounts production, and also managing delivery of the UK operational accounts.

To be successful in your application for this Senior Technical Accountant role, based in Birmingham, you will be a fully qualified Accountant, and have trained in Practice. You will have significant post-qualified experience in a technical accounting capacity, in either Practice or Industry.

You will have an ability to interpret and provide concise guidance on IFRS accounting standards, and deliver the roll out of significant changes, and be experienced and familiar with preparing and managing UK statutory accounts. It is essential you have a strong understanding of large Group consolidations and reporting.

In person, the Senior Technical Accountant will need to have excellent people skills, balancing the need to provide both support and challenge to finance staff across the Group. Also needs to be comfortable communicating with senior personnel in the business.
