Fully bilingual English and Arabic litigator with a minimum of 4 years experience having a great deal of UAE and/or GCC experience to work with a leading international bank.

Role Purpose:

  • The role reports to the Head of Litigation and sits within the Global Dispute Resolution Team and will be responsible for managing litigation.
  • The role has regional responsibility for supporting on litigation and regulatory enforcement management and requires internal reporting to Group Legal and to various governance functions in the Region and at Group level.
  • The role has responsibility for preparing reports for the DFSA and Central Bank (as requested or required in line with reporting requirements and submitted via Regulatory Compliance), all significant or material litigation, regulatory matters and investigations across the MENA region, for Regional Governance forums.
  • The role supports the Regional Head in financial management of MENAT litigation provisioning
  • The role will provide support to the lawyer dedicated to HR legal matters and will provide advice to the MENAT Regional and UAE HR function on contested employee disputes and HR related matters.
  • The role will support the Regional Head on Whistleblower complaints as referred by Regulatory Compliance / Group.
  • The role provides day to day support to all stakeholders within the bank in all lines of business and functions.
  • The role will manage litigation in the UAE and other countries in the MENAT region which do not have legal team. Additionally, the role holder will provide oversight and legal advice to countries which have a legal function, as required.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and manage legal risk through the identification of trends.
  • Contribute to the regular review and redrafting of internal policies and procedures.
  • Day to day support for the Court Orders function across the MENAT region.
