We have been retained by our client who is  engaged in the manufacture and sale of business services products to source a collaborative, hands-on Finance Director to play a proactive role in the business's senior leadership team, working closely with the CEO and supporting the rest of the team.

Listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, the business has a turnover approaching £16m and employs some 120 staff.

This exciting and commercially focussed role has full responsibility for the finances of the company, including the development of the financial strategy and effective governance over operations, enabling robust management decisions to drive top line revenue and customer growth, profitability and productivity.  In order to do this it is expected that you will take an active interest in understanding the end to end business and the marketplace in which it operates.

Key responsibilities will be:

• Ensure that the business is financially sound and that the finances are managed robustly in line with agreed business plans;
• Business partner with the CEO and individual MD's to prepare local business plans providing proactive strategic advice;
• Communicate key financial messages and issues in a proactive, transparent and concise manner to ensure all business stakeholders are aware of issues impacting on the business;
• Oversee the preparation of monthly half yearly and annual financial reports ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and adhering to all relevant deadlines;
• Review the monthly financial statements in advance of circulation and present the financial data to the CEO in a commercial headline format analysing the key facts and variances;
• Use financial analysis and information to proactively solve problems, make recommendations and provide solutions;
• Establish finance (central and remote) as true business partners integrating finance into the business and providing real value through the provision of quality, timely and accurate information;
• Own the relationship with the external auditors/tax advisors and other external advisors to ensure accurate annual accounts and tax computations are finalised and filed on time;
• Manage any legal issues involving the company ensuring it complies with all legal and regulatory requirements;
• Lead and develop the finance function working closely with the Finance Managers based remotely;
• Build out an Investor deck to be used at Investor Roadshow, supporting the CEO.

In addition you will:

• Be a qualified accountant with relevant post qualified experience;
• Have the ability to translate and communicate effectively financial risks to non-finance staff;
• Possess a proven ability to partner and influence at board level;
• Have a highly commercial outlook;
• Have been involved in business acquisitions;
• Be a team player with genuine enthusiasm;
• Have the ability to present and explain financial information at all levels of management;
• Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
