This well established Design Consultancy, is looking to appoint a Financial Controller. Based in Central London this owner managed business is looking for this person to take them through to their next exciting growth phase. Working across their blue chip portfolio of clients in the UK and Internationally, you will have an extremely hands on role working directly with the CFO with responsibility for all month, quarterly and year end duties as well as other ad hoc tasks within the group and other subsidiaries.

Some of your key responsibilities are -

  • Full management of the P&L
  • Prepare timely monthly financial statements
  • Analyse key performance metrics and financial performance
  • Maintain all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Payroll, Tax Compliance, Cost Accounting and revenue recognition
  • Deal with all compliance issues
  • Analyse accounting/ financial data
  •  Operate year end close process
  • Provide detailed revenue, profit and cash flow forecasts
  • Assure compliance with internal controls, including identifying, enhancing and implementing internal control improvements
  • Identify opportunities for continuous operational and financial process flow improvements

Key Skills Required -

  • Qualified accountant with a strong technical background
  • Experience in the services industry, SME experience is preferable
  • Inter - personal skills are important and a desire to improve current systems essential
  • Day of day working experience of Paprika and IRIS payroll
  • Excellent Excel skills

Day to Day duties -

  • Working with project managers ensuring clients are billed on a timely basis for fees and expenses
  • Send weekly time and expenses reports to Project Managers
  • Timesheets - ensure time is entered on time and correctly
  • Chasing overdue client invoices when required
  • Work across the Paprika business system for new starters and leavers

Month end duties -

  • Prepayments and Accruals - ensuring schedules are updates and reconciled
  • Accrued and Deferred income - prepare monthly journals
  • Fixed Assets - ensuring that the register is up to date and depreciation journals posted
  • Post monthly journals to Paprika
  • P&L Review - ensuring all cost are recorded and any variances explained
  • Balance sheet - review balance sheet account ensuring they are reconciled.

The ideal candidate will be looking to work in a hands on entrepreneurial business and will have experience of managing a small team.
