Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences:
Sargent College seeks two dynamic and creative faculty members to
join its internationally recognized Department of Occupational
Therapy.
Tenured Senior Faculty and Chair Position
This faculty appointment includes senior leadership
responsibilities and significant collaboration with the Dean on
strategic initiatives for the College. Candidates should
demonstrate a strong research background and a successful record of
external support for research. Qualifications include: (a) earned
doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) with a funded research program
in or relevant to occupational therapy; (b) experience teaching at
the graduate level, preferably including entry-level professional
students; (c) experience mentoring others in the development of
their programs of research and scholarship; (d) a record of
professional engagement; (e) clinical background as an occupational
therapist strongly preferred. This is a full-time, tenured position
with a 9-month appointment plus summer over-base pay; academic year
requirements may include teaching, research, and service. Rank and
salary will be commensurate with qualifications and level of
experience.
Assistant Professor - Tenure Track
Primary responsibilities with this appointment include teaching
in the graduate programs in occupational therapy and doctoral
program in rehabilitation sciences, as well as engaging in an
active program of independent research. Applicants must have
completed a research doctoral degree, show strong evidence of
productive scholarship through publication and research funding,
and be committed to excellent graduate teaching and student
mentorship. Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship or similar
experience is highly desirable. We seek applicants whose research
can expand and complement ongoing faculty work, which emphasizes
intervention and outcomes that focus on activity, participation,
and environmental influences. Clinical background as an
occupational therapist is strongly preferred. This is a full-time
position with a 9-month appointment; salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and level of experience.
The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed on the main
campus of Boston University in the College of Health and
Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College. The department offers an
undergraduate degree in Behavior and Health; both entry-level and
post-professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate programs; and
participates in the interdisciplinary PhD program in Rehabilitation
Sciences. The internationally recognized Center for Psychiatric
Rehabilitation is also affiliated with the department. Our program
is ranked #1 by US News & World Report and our faculty
are internationally known for their contributions to occupational
therapy research and scholarship and leadership in education and
professional service. We have a highly collaborative environment
that also includes faculty from diverse interest areas within
Sargent as well as across the University. In addition, the Boston
area includes many highly regarded health care and educational
