Leading international law firm with an exceptional reputation for their employment law services is looking to hire a Legal Director or Senior Associate to join their growing office in Aberdeen.

Role Profile:

The firm's employment law team is  independently recognised as one of the best and most experienced teams in the country. The employment law team act as trusted advisor to a number of leading FTSE blue chip organisations (both in the UK and internationally) and clients rely  upon the firm for advice on technical legal issues but also to act as true business partners, understanding the particular challenges and opportunities within their respective sectors and businesses.

The Aberdeen office has a particular focus on the energy sector. The firm's client base includes operators, large service providers and international drilling contractors and they provide strategic advice on issues such as the application of the Working Time Regulations to offshore workers, offshore contracting and TUPE, and trade union relations. The work regularly involves an international dynamic, working closely with colleagues in international offices which includes for example, advising clients on expat and inpat issues and cross-border restructuring projects. Additionally, the employment law team are increasingly engaging with clients on strategic projects such as global change management exercises, reward philosophy projects and gender pay gap audits. 

Candidate Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have significant employment law experience gained in private practice or in-house and you will have technical and market knowledge and with specific experience of dealing with strategic employment law advice, cross-border issues, and senior executive/board room issues and management of complex or high value Employment Tribunal litigation. Knowledge of the energy sector and in particular the oil & gas industry is particularly desirable but not essential.
  • Ideally, you will have experience of acting as a senior lawyer in a team and demonstrate a track record in developing business. 
  • You will be commercially aware and understand how a large international firm operates. 
  • You will also be a team player with excellent communication skills and a desire to be actively involved in multi-disciplinary Office initiatives.
