Physiology
Michigan Technological University, a nationally recognized
leader in science and engineering education and research, invites
applicants for a Department Chair position in the Department of
Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology. We seek an individual with
the vision and experience to elevate the department's prominence in
kinesiology and integrative physiology research, further our strong
tradition of educational excellence, and grow our M.S. and Ph.D.
programs. The expected start date for this position is July 1,
2019.
The Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology is home
to approximately 120 undergraduate and graduate students. We offer
two baccalaureate degrees (B.S., Exercise Science; B.S., Sports
& Fitness Management), an M.S. in Kinesiology, and a Ph.D. in
Integrative Physiology. The department is a campus leader in health
science research and education, with over $5 million in active
state, foundation, federal, and industry awards. Half of our
tenure/tenure-track faculty have active NIH R15 or R01 grants. We
have a strong reputation for innovative teaching practices,
including several published works in Advances in Physiological
Education. In recent years, departmental faculty and students
have been recognized for their excellence in both research and
teaching through local, regional, and national awards. Department
faculty and students regularly collaborate with the Central
Michigan University satellite Doctoral of Physical Therapy (DPT)
program that is located on the Michigan Tech campus. For more

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in
Kinesiology/Exercise Science, or a related life sciences field and
be eligible for appointment as Associate or Full Professor.
Consequently, a successful candidate is expected to have a record
of successful teaching experience at both the undergraduate and
graduate level, and successful scholarship and grantsmanship, as
well as interpersonal and management skills to lead a dynamic and
growing department, a commitment to fostering and promoting
diversity in the Department's initiatives, and the ability to
promote interdisciplinary collaboration and community partnerships.
Prior administrative or academic leadership experience is
preferred.
