POSITION SCOPE:

This entrepreneurial and dynamic executive will leverage the considerable resources, knowledge base, and best practices of the nationwide DaVita Medical Group operations, while building and implementing a custom strategy to become a dominant force in their market. Responsible for establishing DaVita Medical Group as the "go-to" partner in integrated care management, the Market Vice President of Operations will catalyze substantial growth through physician network development and management, as well as innovating and introducing new products and services. This individual will be responsible for architecting the vision and strategy for the market, while driving the implementation of strategy and continuous improvement of both business and clinical models within said market. Ultimately responsible for the successful engagement of physicians and other providers to drive alignment of incentives and behaviors to achieve both financial and clinical success in a globally capitated environment.

CORE COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR ROLE:

* MBA or MS preferred. Must be able to articulate the clinical and financial value proposition of innovative platforms
* Must have extremely strong operations, operational excellence, physician engagement and service-orientation within an innovative/risk-based environment
* Ability to build strong cross-functional and matrix relationships
* Demonstrated track record of success in building out infrastructure capable of sustaining multiple years of growth and continuing to evolve a business
* P&L leader with 10+ years of progressive professional experience, including 5+ years in leadership positions
* Solutions-Oriented: Does not shy away from challenge. Rather sees opportunities to differentiate and thrive in overcoming obstacles; track record of delivering in a complex environment
* Demonstrated track record of success in delivering profitability of business models and new innovation; understands the "true cost" of decisions and can balance loss leaders/positioning plays against future revenue and margin delivery.
* Ability to understand and prioritize internally and externally available solutions to solve for current needs
* Must use creative and forward thinking to determine 'what can be' versus 'what is' in order to deliver models, infrastructure and teams that are not only capable of scaling, but flexible and adaptable to deal with changing market and industry needs and opportunities
* Strong general manager experience; excellent strategic thinking and strategic planning skills; must have an innate business sense and ability to make a contribution to larger enterprise objectives; able to translate needs into solutions, concept into reality
* Leader/Driver/Change Agent: Passionate and compelling leader who is able to inspire, motivate and influence others; must understand and articulate vision, set direction, communicate effectively, earn respect of others and gain buy-in; capable of working in and creating a dynamic environment that fosters innovation, healthy challenge, communication and collaboration with a focus on constantly "raising the bar"
* Strong customer focus: Consistent drive to discover and meet the needs of multiple stakeholders, but always with the patient in mind
* Ability to think in 360 degree manner for each project; able to set up process for pilot, tweak and commercialize innovation; able to establish rigor and discipline around new product development and successfully commercialize new products

* Must be able to travel as needed, both within the assigned geography, as well as nationally as required for business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Leadership & Planning: Act as 'market CEO' with full P&L responsibility; think creatively and strategically to drive both top and bottom lines of the business; take progressive stance on improving all aspects of the business to build capabilities, assess risk and drive continuous improvement in execution.

* Business planning/financial management: Manage P&L for market; develop budgets, ensure compliance, and minimize risk for market
* Strategic Planning: Conduct deep-dive assessment of market to identify opportunities; determine plan to evolve and rapidly expand the business, identifying current and potential capabilities to aggressively differentiate and position DaVita Medical Group in the market
* Portfolio Approach: Stay abreast of advancements and changes in the market; lead systematic review and prioritization of projects; Continuing to add and evolve products/services to ensure continued value proposition and protect against margin erosion
* Personal Accountability: Maintain healthy degree of impatience around delivering great care and taking advantage of market dynamics and opportunities

Network development: Ensure access through building a broad and stable network, securing the foundation for DaVita Medical Group in the market

* Build Network: Work tirelessly to ensure growth with the right physicians and providers who will engage and collaborate to not only deliver, but promote successful and profitable models of care
* Align incentives: Constantly improve models and incentives, helping providers succeed in transforming care
* Create ambassadors: Engage with physicians and caregivers on clinical standards of care, creating an engaged network that will proactively promote on behalf of DaVita Medical Group
* Develop residency programs: Design and secure creative partnerships with medical schools to ensure constant source of highly qualified physicians

Operations: Identifying areas of strengths, needs and gaps; determine prioritization for investment, leverage synergies and opportunities to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence

* Market Operations: Build products, platforms, infrastructure and resources to ensure excellence in execution, optimal delivery and scalability in support of both existing and new businesses and programs
* Metrics: Implement and evolve Key Performance Indicators to drive accountability and continuous improvement, measuring clinical, operational and financial outcomes; ensure ability to measure and quantitatively articulate delivery of value
* Acquisition integration: Implement strategy for acquisitive growth; ensure seamless transition into DaVita Medical Group network and launch on DaVita Medical Group platforms
* Scalability: Ensure long-term, "green-field" view, conceptualizing what "might be" and ensuring adaptability and scalability of teams, processes, workflows and infrastructure critical to strategic initiatives and business operations
* Leverage DaVita Medical Group & resources: Utilize technology and other DaVita Medical Group tools to track trends and monitor resource utilization; identify "outliers" that could either positively or negatively impact medical cost to develop an action plan, but also continuous learning on how to evolve models and adapt for local market
* Evolve Business/Clinical Models: Constantly work on financial and business models to align incentives and drive behavior change toward more accountable/integrated care
* Compliance: Ensure appropriate infrastructure, processes and adherence to requirements and regulatory agencies

Growth: Review all operations, programs, projects and initiatives; develop understanding of true global picture in the market and prioritize focus and determine investment to deliver business into the future; balance portfolio, determining approach to ROI vs. "loss leaders" that will enable DaVita Medical Group better positioning to participate in more meaningful opportunities

* Positioning: Serve as external face of DaVita Medical Group in the market; work with current and potential partners, positioning DaVita Medical Group to deliver as valued partner
* Business development: Constantly review market players and dynamics, continuing to revise and evolve strategy around payer, health system and physician relationships
* New Service Lines: While continuing to grow and expand Medicare Advantage platforms, model, prioritize and launch new service lines (dual eligible, Medicaid, etc.)

Corporate/enterprise leadership: As a key member of the DaVita Medical Group senior team, help to devise broader vision and strategy for the Southeast, while strengthening the connectivity with peers nationwide and DaVita Medical Group as a whole

* Innovation: Drive innovation around financial models, incentive plans, clinical models, analytics, and implementation of technology to help architect the next generation of integrated care
* Cross-sharing: Facilitate sharing of ideas, drive proactive conceptual discussions and idea sharing; determine areas of opportunity to deliver value and solutions to under-addressed pain points; help to incubate new concepts into scalable programs and platforms; foster import and export of best practices
* Build bench strength: Identify and enthusiastically promote and support high-performing individuals capable of stepping up within DaVita Medical Group
* Leverage Resources: Develop relationships throughout DaVita Medical Group and the broader DaVita Medical Group village; develop collaboration and mine for ideas that can impact in your market
