The Company 

The Head of Finance Financial Controller will join a company founded in 2009. BioPhorum is a unique service business with a distinctive business model, focussed on the biopharmaceutical sector. With 30% year-on-year revenue growth and 45 highly professional staff the organisation is entering a new phase is its development.

BioPorum is looking for a financial Controller or Head of Financeto play a key role within the senior management team, to deliver an ambitious strategy for growth covering the next 3 - 5 year period. Private Equity investors have recently been brought on board and this offers tremendous opportunity for an aspiring qualified accountant to broaden their horizons at a commercial level.

The Financial Controller / Head of Finance Role:

• To support the senior management team and Board of Directors to drive continued growth whilst maximising shareholder value.

• To take ownership of the financial dimensions of the business plan; to monitor, control and report financial performance and to provide meaningful insight for decision making.

• To work in partnership with IT, HR, Operations and Business Development colleagues to develop strategies and polices that add value.

• To manage external relationships - banks, auditors, advisors, investors, legal, foreign currency brokers etc. demonstrating the necessary gravitas and credibility. Head of Finance Financial Controller

• The role offers tremendous scope for personal development and advancement within the business - it is expected that the Financial Controller or Head of Finance will quickly progress to Finance Director.

The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller / Head of Finance role:

The successful candidate for this Financial Controller / Head of Finance role will be a qualified Accountant with 5+ years (post qualification) experience of working with highly motivated and ambitious management teams, preferably including leadership of at least one finance function in an SME or auditing SMEs

Ability to be ‘hands on' and close to day-to-day business activities in order to creatively solve problems and continuously improve back office functions.

Demonstrable skills with IT tools and cloud based software services.

Diligent, diplomatic and able to build strong relationships with colleagues across the business.

Be able and willing to work from home and travel within the UK for regular meetings with key stakeholders. Most likely located in the Manchester / Leeds area.
