Excellent in-house role for a lawyer looking to join a dynamic and innovative financial services organisation based in their head offices in Edinburgh. 

The role will be based within the commercial team and will involve advising across a broad range of commercial, commercial contracts and IT matters- the company are interested in speaking with lawyers with strong commercial contracts backgrounds.

Role Profile:

  • Provide insightful and commercial legal advice to all business areas of in relation to: 
  • New contractual arrangements, including negotiation, reviewing and drafting contracts; 
  • Existing contractual arrangements, including assisting the business to manage contractual relationships and disputes; and
  • Compliance with the law and new legal developments.
  • Advising on legal risks and mitigation strategies and supporting good governance through appropriate discussion and escalation of issues and input into appropriate sign-off documentation.
  • Implementing Commercial Contracts Policy, the Litigation Policy and other relevant policies and procedures and provide relevant training.
  • Keeping knowledge, skills and abilities up-to-date.
  • Overseeing and managing external legal resources and preferred legal suppliers.
  • Assisting in the setting of strategies for managing small claims customer litigation and managing the outsourced law firm who administer the claims day to day.
  • Providing legal advice to the business on s75 claims, customer complaints and FOS related matters.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Lawyer with circa 2-6 years PQE and a strong background in commercial/ commercial contracts.   
  • Track record of delivering pragmatic risk based legal advice (experience of IT/cloud contracts would be an advantage but not essential).
  • Ability to balance and prioritise workload and deal with a number of competing projects at any one time.
