We have a requirement for an in-house Commercial and Procurement Solicitor, to provide high quality legal advice to the Procurement & Commercial teams globally.  This is an exciting and role which requires an experienced, confident and highly motivated individual.  This role is based in our office in Westminster, London, paying a salary of £60K, plus a comprehensive benefits package,

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide commercially sound legal advice to the global RICS operations, to include legal structure and compliance
  • Draft and amend complex contractual documentation (UK and international), including for EU funded bid proposals and supply of commercial services contracts
  • Procure and manage instructions to external legal advisors (UK and international) where required
  • Advise on the contractual terms of alliances/relationships with other professional bodies, to include Service Agreements, MoU and wider collaboration arrangements
  • Guide and influence internal stakeholders, including Senior Management, on issues of legal risk and strategy, from a commercial legal and wider business perspective;
  • Advise on commercial property and lease issues;
  • Legal risk management in all areas of RICS business, working closely with Finance/Tax and the business;
  • Provide support and advice in relation to international trademark portfolio;
  • Supervise and support other members of the commercial legal team in order to manage workload and workflows to ensure timely delivery of legal advice and the development of internal expertise h;
  • Work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure compliance with data privacy obligations (including GDPR) and Financial and Modern Slavery regulations for commercial contracts.
     

The ideal candidate will have / be:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a diverse legal environment, in house or private practice.
  • Minimum 5 years PQE with a minimum of 2 years working with procurement teams.
  • Previous experience of handling a complex caseload of procurement and commercial contracts.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Versatility, to meet the changing priorities, and a desire to deliver an excellent service.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring more junior team members, including setting of development plans and objectives to ensure engagement and high productivity levels;
  • Current practicing certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good communicator - both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Skype for Business (or similar).
