Lead Risk Assurance - FTSE 20 global organisation

£45,000 - £58,500 Per Annum

Broster Buchanan have been assigned to partner with National Grid in Warwick to source an ambitous and talented individual who is looking for fast track development and cross-departmental exposure inside this dynamic FTSE 100 organisation.

This is a superb role for a qualified accountant looking for their first step into a large and complex organisation. This a broad and commercial opportunity that will develop your accounting skills and help you to transfer your audit methodology into the real world of industry.

The engaging nature of the role ensures you will maximise your stakeholder interaction across all areas of this business and subsequently maintain a variety of options to specialise in a number of departments further into your career.

By developing sound relationships across senior stakeholders internally, you will harness a deep understanding of business strategy, control frameworks and risk appetite to provide independent assurance on the design and effectiveness of processes and controls used, in order to mitigate business risk.

You will provide recommendations to drive effective and efficient control frameworks and processes, employing best practices to support the business in its focus on continuous improvement.

This is a best in class function, which uses the latest risk based methodologies to deliver superior governance. Your background in either internal audit or external audit assurance will be developed and applied across a range of different areas of this dynamic and very much changing organisation.

This is a role where you will quickly get to grips with a big business, liaise with key stakeholders from day one and advise departments on risk mitigation and where appropriate risk appetite.

Career options arising from this avenue of risk assurance are vast - and the head of risk assurance will openly promote your development into other areas of the business after 2-3 years. Previous incumbents of this position have gone on to become finance business partners, commercial analysts, divisional controllers and indeed taken international transfers.

My client are looking to continue developing a best in class function, as such they are looking for passionate, ambitious, quality driven and highly aspirational accountants or internal auditors to join the team.

  • You will have developed an excellent audit background, Top10 experience preferable with proven track record for delivering audits within multinational companies and/or operations/functional experience.
  • You'll have up to date knowledge and understanding of risk based audit delivery and practices, internal control frameworks and risk management activities and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practice
  • You'll also have a demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting relationships across the business including ability to engage, challenge and influence senior managers, deal effectively with resistance to proposals and secure their buy-in and support.

Having worked successfully with this organisation and department head on many occasions over the last year, I know how good an opportunity this is for a first time mover so if you are interested, please don't hesitate to apply or get in touch.

The interview process is transparent - you will first meet the head of risk assurance and latterly meet many of the team - including those who have previously made a similar move, ensuring your opportunity to get to grips with the expectations and positive aspects of this move.
