In-House Banking Lawyer - Structured Products
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Banking Lawyer with experience in Structured Products to join a Global Financial Organisation's In-House Legal Team on a long term temporary assignment. The assignment, based primarily in the Birmingham Office, is to cover a permanent member of staff's maternity leave, and is offered for an initial period of 6 months.
About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Structured Products Lawyer, who is comfortable advising on bespoke solutions for client needs, whilst always balancing legal risk to make transactions viable and safe.
You will join an onshore Legal team, and liaise closely with transaction management teams (onshore and offshore), European regulators and listing agents, as well as other divisions of the organisation. You will manage transactions in jurisdictions including EU member states, the Middle East, Asia and South Africa. Collaborating with Sales Structuring & Trading, you will create new structured products. This will include interpreting termsheets, drafting and reviewing securitised derivative (note, warrant and certificate) prospectuses, final terms, other relevant documentation and subsequent amendments, confidentiality agreements, regulatory filing and European law (Prospectus Directive, MiFID) compliance, preparation of notices and listing requirements.
About the person
The Banking Lawyer will be a UK qualified lawyer with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience. Ideally our client is seeking a candidate with previous experience of experience of negotiating English law governed finance documentation which may include some of the above-mentioned documents. Previous experience at a leading Law Firm, Financial Services Organisation, Hedge Fund or Asset Management Company would be advantageous.
A strong mathematical background would assist due to the fast paced and complex nature of the role and our client is particularly keen to hear from candidates with management or supervisory experience.
