Financial Systems Accountant

Based in Watford, Hertfordshire, our client is a market leading company looking for a Financial System Accountant to join their team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, providing maternity cover.

This job would suit an ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant who will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of data and system controls through efficient process design and management.

The successful individual will be a qualified accountant with experience of maintaining and monitoring results as well as experience of data captured and using data to provide insight and direction to end users to build a complete picture. The candidate must be able to present financial and other operational information in a clear and precise way. Ideally the candidate will have experience of using Open accounts and/or Cognos reporting.

Duties will include:

• Providing collaborative, flexible, efficient and responsive expert technical advice on Open accounts
• Providing knowledge on system upgrades and testing new processes to meet business requirements
• Main point of contact and support for all staff and managers to address and respond to information requests
• Working collaboratively and in a matrix management structure to develop solutions and manage specialist interface specifications to improve the efficiency and capability of finance system users
• Managing tasks with the need to maintain confidentiality of data accessed, in particular the sensitivity around payroll data, subsequent storage and provision in accordance with laid out guidelines / procedures
• Reviewing and analysing data flow between systems and analysing the methods of data extraction to enhance the ability available reporting tools and to also ensure full use and capabilities of systems are being used
• Working with other specialist officers to manage and maximize capacity of corporate financial systems or to recommend corrective action
• Designing and developing solutions to maintain the capability, availability, security and data integration
• Producing user guides that are concise and user friendly to encourage maximum usage and to aid supported learning for the organisation
• Developing and building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as Finance Business Managers, Auditors & suppliers of finance systems to ensure continuity of service
• supporting the implementation of change management projects e. implementation of new procurement process, new processes for increasing spending, to cover the provision, exchange and transfer of data from systems for analysis for decision making, updating and maintaining the chart of accounts etc.
• Supporting, planning & managing the test and release of various system versions, patches and bug fixes, ensuring effective change control is maintained, records and documentation produced liaising with system providers as necessary
• Championing the use of Open accounts, efinance, TM1 and other finance systems, providing training and support to line managers on the use and to demonstrate how to make certain transactions within the system and how to pull off reports
• Leading the development and maintenance of accounting systems, maintaining documentation and support flow charts
