Risk and Compliance Director

A renowned global law firm is looking to recruit a Risk and Compliance Director in its Newcastle office. The firm is known for its down-to-earth and friendly atmosphere, whilst also being a leading firm with a wealth of high-profile clients.

The Role

The firm is recruiting for a Risk and Compliance Director to join their centralised UK risk and compliance team. This role involves a range of duties relating to compliance issues, from performing client due diligence (CDD) and anti-money laundering checks, to client file opening, risk assessments, sanctions investigations and broader compliance with the relevant laws and regulations across the firm's entire global operations.

Ideal (but not necessary) skills and qualifications include:

• Experience of working in risk and compliance, preferably within a law firm
• Excellent and detailed knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, for example: the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, SRA Code of Conduct, data protection and sanctions regimes.
• Managerial experience
• Professional conduct and the ability to liaise with people from across all levels of the business, including senior fee earners
• Good analytical skills and close attention to detail
• The ability to work to deadlines and manage workloads
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
