Head of Legal

A leading scientific organisation is looking for a Commercial Lawyer / Legal Counsel to join their In-house team as Head of Legal.

The business has over 1000 employees and 400 labs across the UK, and provides statistics and evidence needed for growth and innovation across the infrastructure and industry of the UK. The role would be perfect for a Commercial Lawyer / Legal Counsel with more than 5 years PQE, a background in drafting commercial contracts, and some experience of line management. Salary is dependent on individual experience, and the business offers flexible working, a great work/life balance, and generous holiday allowance.

The successful Legal Counsel / Head of Legal will lead a small team of Lawyers and Paralegals. You will draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of commercial contracts, provide ad-hoc legal advice to internal stakeholders, and advise on compliance, employment, and IP.

Applications are invited from Commercial Lawyers / Legal Counsel who can demonstrate a strong background in commercial contracts. Candidates should enjoy working In-house and providing advice and support to colleagues from non-legal backgrounds. Those with experience both in commerce and industry and government organisations are encouraged to apply, although those from Private Practice will also be considered.
