Our client is a well-established, highly regarded family owned FMCG (Food) manufacturer based in the Wrexham area. In this new Finance Director role, created to meet business demands as the company has expanded from £40m to £100m in the last 12m - with future growth forecasted to take the business to £200m - you will report to the Managing Director taking full ownership of the finance function. With close support from the Financial Controller, you and your team will be responsible for the effective delivery of all aspects of management & financial reporting including commercial analysis & statutory compliance.

Actively contributing to the company's profitability - by addressing both current and future needs of the business - your remit will inlcude overall responsibility for monthly reporting by profit centre, forecasting, managing cash, managing the transactions team and statutory reporting - including handling tax matters. In additional to all reporting aspects you will also be responsible for commercially supporting the business in evaluating growth opportunities as well as understanding the profitability of current business including conducting and supporting operational reviews. Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking the lead in supporting change management and process improvement projects to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the business
  • Identifying and developing short, medium and long term financial plans and business strategies in order to achieve agreed Company objective
  • Effectively implementing agreed plans and strategies.
  • Leading the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Developing departmental budgeting and cost responsibilities
  • Cashflow forecasting & monitoring
  • Managing the production of the monthly management accounts
  • Developing modern and sophisticated Board reporting formats and KPI reporting suites
  • Managing external relationships - e.g. banks, accountants, advisors, etc
  • Supervising the accounts team of 7 - Setting objectives for the team and managing performance
  • Leading all aspects of the annual Statutory Audit process, including tax, ensuring all current and emerging IFRS policies are reviewed and applied where appropriate
  • Advising on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions and assess ways of improving business performance
  • Establishing strong relationships across the business and interpret and communicate financial data to both financial and non-financial managers
  • Developing robust financial information and reporting systems

Applicants must be fully Qualified (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) Finance Directors with previous experience in a similar profile role for a similar size FMCG manufacturer. You will be an effective leader with the capability of working with people at all levels and will have a hands on & proactive management style. In your career to date you will have been instrumental in improving financial performance and will have experience with all aspects of cash flow management, including invoice discounting and HP facilities.

As an effective communicator you will be able to quickly forge strong relationships across all areas of the business as well as with the bank, external customers and suppliers. You will have the style, approach and gravitas to challenge & influence the Business Owners and leadership team and will have excellent IT skills and prior experience of implementing and developing ERP systems to meet business demands.
