This is a key leadership role with the bulk of responsibility residing at the head office in Hampshire although there are existing European operations and further acquisitions are planned.

They are multi-faceted and committed to further expansion and growth, having just gone through an equity raise to do so.

Description

This role will encompass 4 key areas:

1. Business Partnering with Operations

  • Supporting the MDs in development of strategy and the financial metrics
  • Preparation of annual plans and budgets for each company within the two divisions
  • Monthly presentation to the CFO of results, trends, drivers of revenue, gross profit and costs, cash flow and working capital management, capex and risks opportunities and plans to meet full year targets
  • Project support on new business, acquisitions and investments
  • Preparation of quarterly business reviews supporting MDs
  • Develop quality management presentations for the divisions for presentation to the CEO, CFO and COO

2. Reporting and Controlling for finance operations and PLC governance requirements

  • Providing a strong controlling environment in terms of transaction processing with efficient and effective reporting
  • Working with Group Finance in meeting group reporting requirements
  • Report on EBITDA and conversion of profit to cash on a monthly basis

3. Transaction Processing and Treasury ops

  • Manage the Treasury team providing high quality transaction support across the business
  • Manage the relationship with the outsourced provider delivering timely and accurate transaction processing services to the business
  • Provide cash flow forecasting and analysis of how to improve cash management
  • Foreign Exchange - ensure accounting is accurate and correct, ensure FX exposures are minimized across the group and proposals on FX management

4. Specialist services

  • Taxation - ensure EU entities meet VAT, payroll and corporate tax requirements
  • Capex - ensure budgets are understood and deliver returns
  • Team development - Controllers and Finance Managers in each entity are supported to PLC standards
  • M&A - support the business in targeting, negotiating and integrating acquisitions
  • Systems - maximize the use of the group systems to increase accuracy, relevance and speed of reporting
  • Processes - continuously seek process improvement to increase transparency, governance and enhance operational performance

Profile

The ideal candidate will be qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and most likely from a Big 4 background, with PLC exposure a must.

  • PLC background and divisional and operational management experience, delivering high quality information to PLC Boards
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of small businesses
  • Managed large teams
  • Mix of corporate and operational skills
  • Strong budgetary control exposure
  • Knowledge of product costing and the drivers affecting it
  • An understanding of commercial agreements
  • Contract negotiation experience
