Head of SRE - Electronic Trading - London - GBP120k

Head of SRE required by Electronic Trading firm in London that currently handles the 24/7 electronic market-making of various asset classes across the world. This firm operates on a global scale and currently has their automated trading algorithms running on 15 Servers spanning 3 different continents.

You will be in charge of building a team that will be responsible for combining both software and systems engineering to ensure maximum scalability, distribution and fault-tolerance. In a company handling automated trading, the Head of SRE will ensure maximum reliability and uptime of all trading systems.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

• Building and leading a team of Software/Systems Engineers to manage deployment, maintenance and changes to the trading infrastructure
• Involvement with the specification and evaluation of new hardware platforms for trading desks
• Effective communication of scheduled maintenance activities and unexpected outages
• The design and implementation of automated processes to improve the deployment, monitoring and operation of trading systems

The skill set required to be considered for this role is as follows:

• BA/BS degree in CompSci, EE, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent practical experience
• Experience of software development in one or more of the following: Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby etc.
• Experience managing an engineering team on large-scale projects with technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and/or storage
• Proficiency working with algorithms, data structures and production troubleshooting

This opportunity does not require previous experience working in a High Frequency Trading environment, however you will need experience in solving problems and analysing globally distributed systems.
