A nationally recognised insurance brand is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel in Surrey. The insurance brands they own are primarily within the motor and home insurance arena and these products give the business a platform to be a major player within the UK market.

The business is enthusiastic about the future and will be venturing into other markets, this opens up new and exciting opportunities.

This role will come with managerial responsibilities to assist the Head of Legal in managing the legal team of 3 more junior lawyers.

The Role

The Legal Team is located in Surrey and is in place to provide accurate, timely and commercially attuned advice to the business.

- Obtain clear and concise instructions and advise business clients on any legal matters affecting the business' day-to-day activities.
- Analyse a particular legal issue and formulate the best solutions or approaches to deal with the legal issue.
- Negotiate and draft appropriate contractual protection for the company in relation to transactions and ensure that contracts properly reflect the agreed commercial terms.
- Clearly identify and mitigate legal risk and assist the business to manage residual legal risk in accordance with the company's Legal Risk Policy.
- Report into the Head of Legal and provide support in managing the more junior members of the legal team.

The Person

- A Solicitor holding a practising certificate in England and Wales.
- A general commercial lawyer.
- An understanding of the principles of contract law and a general understanding of business and financial principals that relate to services agreements.
- Ideally have worked and gained experience within one or more of these areas whether as a trainee or post qualification; Employment, General Commercial, Information Technology, Intellectual Property or Data Protection/GDPR.
- Experience within a regulated environment.
- Managerial experience

The Package

A competitive salary of between £75k - £85k depending on skills and experience. The role also comes with a package which includes a bonus.
