Legal Counsel

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercial lawyer to join the in-house legal team in a successful and growing organisation.

Our client is a FTSE 250 listed entity, fast growing, agile, digitally focused general insurance provider of products and services to over 2 million customers in the UK, employing over 3,000 colleagues. The Group comprises two trading entities; a UK retail intermediary, and a Gibraltar based insurance underwriter.

Based at the Group's UK headquarters, you will join a team of five lawyers. The role will be challenging and varied with primary responsibilities covering:

* Advising, drafting and negotiating on a variety of bespoke and standard form commercial and insurance related contracts.
* Advising business managers, and helping to develop awareness and understanding, on the implications of contract terms.
* Providing general legal support to the business support functions, including compliance.
* Liaison with external counsel as required.

You will have solid experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Having previous experience of working in-house and/or in the financial services sector, in particular advising on non-contentious insurance matters, would be an advantage.

You will be adaptable and innovative, and be an effective team player. You will need to be pro-active and an effective communicator, and be able to apply tact and diplomacy to ensure optimal outcomes.
