Our client is a leading utilities company in the south. They are looking for a specialist Construction and Engineering Contracts lawyer focusing on the full remit of non-contentious and some aspects of preliminary contentious ECC matters. The role involves a range of technical contract drafting work, negotiating, resolving disputes, and providing strategic legal advice on key projects, primarily utilising the NEC suite of contracts.
Whilst reporting to the head of the Commercial Legal unit, you will enjoy leading on high value projects and can expect to handle ECC contractual negotiations on a day to day basis. Operating at a senior level, you will have autonomy and responsibility for your own workload and be expected to steer the direction of your area of expertise. The work on o?er is technically challenging, but hugely rewarding.
To be suitable for the role you will need to be a quali?ed lawyer (Solicitor / Barrister / FCILEX) with signi?cant and recent specialist PQE in practical construct on and engineering contract law, and a deep, 'hands on' understanding of the NEC suite of contracts. A proactive, positive nature is essential, as is business acumen and the ability to work as part of a team and to build relationships at all levels.
