An opportunity has arisen to join a world renowned technology organisation in a crucial Legal Counsel position within the global legal team. You will be supporting the technology business group in a varied Commercial role with a bias towards IP law. Our client is looking for bright, commercial lawyers who can work closely with the business groups and other legal partners in a dynamic, busy team.

The legal department is embedded within the business groups to provide legal support for the commercialisation of their technology and handle all related legal risks. The team handles a variety of matters from a full spectrum of intellectual property law, competition, and commercial law with support from our own legal specialists and external counsel.

  • You will be advising senior management within the business groups, with a particular focus on technology licensing and collaborations at a technical level;
  • You will support the product groups in developing business models and licensing IP;
  • You will be drafting and maintaining associated precedents and know-how for complex areas of software and IP products;
  • You will be reviewing, drafting and negotiating various contracts, including technology licences and collaboration agreements, providing research and preparing know-how;

You will be a qualified solicitor or equivalent with previous knowledge of contract and IP law and also the knowhow to translate your knowledge to technology (hardware and/or software) licensing and commercial contracts more broadly. You will have the ability to think laterally and to challenge assumption and working practises. For you to succeed in this role you will require excellent communication and drafting skills, the capability to building strong business and working relationships internally and with external partners and will have the flexibility for international travel.

Our client envisages that candidates with 1 - 4 years PQE will have the relevant skills / knowledge for this position, however this has been given as an approximate guide for applicants and our client is happy to consider the applications of candidates who fall outside of this PQE range but who have the relevant experience.
