The opportunity

This is a newly created role reporting to the CFO of a recruitment company who have received PE investment within the last year. The company are growing rapidly and are expanding organically as well as via acquisition to further increase their market share. This is an autonomous role where you will be required to grow and develop your team, whilst implementing the necessary processes and controls to further support the company's expansion.

The role

Reporting to the CFO you will be responsible for owning the budgeting and forecasting process, managing the cashflow forecast and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Furthermore you will be require to manage, motivate and develop a growing team. The business are in the process of creating a bespoke CRM and you will act as the finance lead on this implementation, helping to integrate both Sage 200 & Sage Payroll.

Key requirements:  

  • Qualified accountant ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA
  • Evidence of successful hiring of finance personnel to build a cohesive team
  • Direct sector experience is not mandatory, but candidates should have an understanding of the business model
  • Accounting systems implementation / project management experience advantageous
  • Knowledge / experience working with CRM and strong IT skills are a must (including systems integration processes)
  • Audit and statutory accounts (including tax) oversight
  • Acquisition accounting
  • CT600 and tax returns
  • Ability to communicate to operational management and work with them to form a cohesive team
  • Proactive in policing targets, managing budgets and dealing with problems quickly
  • Approachable and personable - creating a team environment, working with operations and not against them
  • Knowledge of UK PAYE and payroll legislation (including IR35) would be an advantage
  • Board report preparation and strong report writing skills. Overseeing all internal reporting (including operational reports)
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash management experience and the ability to ‘own' the modelling behind those
  • Good analytical skills and strong Excel capabilities
  • Previous experience with bank debt financing advantageous
  • Role will involve frequent UK travel (and possibly infrequent international travel)
  • Commercial contracts and agreements
  • Policing and reporting against internal targets
