Group Financial Controller - TV & Film Production Company up to £80,000 + Bonus - based in London


My client, an independent Film Production and Television group is looking for a group Financial Controller to lead their finance team. This is a great opportunity to join an established and successful film and TV company.

As the group Financial Controller you will be responsible for all aspects of the finance function including budgeting, management accounting and statutory reporting as well as an active involvement in the ongoing growth and development of the existing business. At this moment the group is experiencing a time of growth and the role will continue to grow with the business.

Group Accounting

  • Day to day financial responsibility of the group - bank/cash management, books of first entry, debt collection etc.
  • Overseeing and training of accounts assistant.
  • Cashflow management and planning.
  • Responsible for preparation and presentation of management accounts and special reports for board reporting.
  • Responsible for back office support (payroll, VAT, debtors, creditors).
  • Responsible for all corporate reporting responsibilities (including statutory accounts, corporation tax and company secretarial) for group
  • Monitor production fees, recharges and collate producer entitlement of same.

Distribution Accounting

  • Preparation of royalty reports to licensors for films under exploitation
  • Preparation of monthly commission file for releasing (third party Distribution company)

Production Accounting
  • Agree finance and corporate structuring of each production in conjunction with the CEO
  • Assist in creation of the development budgets and oversee invoicing and collection of same
  • Monitor the development, pre-production, production and post-production activities of all productions - focus on cashflow, dealing with Broadcaster for funding, handling day to day finance queries from the production.
  • Manage day to day finance of productions prior to handing over to the production accountant
  • Co-ordinate tax credit audits, BFI & HMRC applications for each production and any other grants if applicable.

This role will suit a bright and ambitious individual who has trained in practice whilst successfully gaining the ACA qualification with first time passes. You will be a good communicator both verbal and written followed by excellent interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of NAVision, Eclipse and mydaEs would be useful along with the experience and ability to work well under pressure.
