An FMCG business is looking for a UK based Sole Legal Counsel. The role will have a reporting line into the US legal team but to all intents and purposes it is a standalone position for EMEA. The business is focused around manufacturing of branded consumer goods, home and personal care products.

Given the nature of the role the commercial legal counsel will be responsible for the EMEA export region on a wide range of business, marketing, sales, and commercial contract matters, and EU Data Privacy and Security compliance issues.

The position is new due to natural growth of the business through acquisitions and market share.

In House Sole Legal Counsel - EMEA overview

· Responsible for providing general commercial counsel and support to the EU Division and EMEA export region on a wide range of commercial, transactional, compliance, regulatory and cross border matters, directly and with the assistance of outside counsel as needed.
· Work with cross functional business teams as well as other members of the US Law Department to provide comprehensive advice to clients on legal risk analysis, commercial transactions, and advising on and managing compliance program, including privacy and data protection, .
· Draft and negotiate complex contracts in support of third party global sales regulatory networks and provide lead counsel on contract compliance and issue resolution.
· Work on special projects as assigned to improve service and meet client needs including Mergers and Acquisitions due diligence and integration, contract and trade compliance.

Education and Experience

· A commercially minded skilled solicitor or barrister entitled to practice in the UK or a relevant jurisdiction with experience from a leading law firm and/or in-house, ideally in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry with working knowledge of EU Privacy including GDPR.
· Fluency in a 2nd language (French or German) is desirable but not essential

Package

The package is very competitive and is inclusive of a car allowance of £6,500 and a bonus that operates in a range around 10%.
