Group Commercial Financial Controller | Private Equity-backed | Highly Acquisitive & Rapidly Growing | International Multi-site Retail | High-profile & Pivotal Group Role | Commercial Leadership | M&A and Integration | Senior Stakeholder Engagement | External Relationships & Lender Interaction

Axon Moore is representing a highly acquisitive, private-equity backed, international retail group based in Lancashire. Due to a rapid increase in scale, driven by a buy and build strategy, an opportunity has arisen for a newly created Group Commercial Financial Controller role.

The successful candidate will be required to oversee all areas of the business and will be a critical business partner, providing commercial insight and decision support to Regional Directors, the Group CFO, Group CEO, Board and external advisors/lenders, whilst overseeing a team of regional Commercial Finance Managers and Analysts.

As the business has gone on an acquisition trail and grown rapidly into a multi-billion turnover business, Group reporting has only recently been developed. The role holder will be responsible for enhancing that reporting to give a clear and consistent view of site-by-site performance at a group level, providing accurate and meaningful MI against tight deadlines.

The information produced will be used to inform business decision making and drive profitability across the group, requiring high quality, useful and timely information to allow the business to monitor progress against objectives and identify opportunities for operational improvement. This will give the successful candidate a unique perspective and extremely influential position within the Group.

The role holder will be a qualified accountant with several years PQE, significant commercial finance experience and a track record of driving profitability and the “hands on” development of meaningful MI across a complex group.

There is a real culture and desire within the business for finance to be leading the business and influencing strategic decision making and driving profitability rather than just being a reporting function.

This is a business with a fantastic growth story and an exciting few years ahead with an ambitious strategy that this role will be critical in delivering. This is also a very fast-paced and hardworking environment that requires resilient and truly ambitious individual to take on this high-profile role.
