Financial Accountant

A well known high street retailer based in West London is currently looking to take on a Financial Accountant for a 3 to 6 month contract.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will primarily be responsible for accounting for VAT and stock. You will ensure all relevant deadlines are met and work is performed to a high standard. There will also be a focus on driving continual business improvement through challenging current processes and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of U Financial Statements in accordance with UK GAAP.
• Preparation and maintenance of Group's accounting & business policies and procedures.
• Maintaining Group's Fixed Asset register
• Ownership of the quarterly UK VAT returns including preparation and submission. Ensure all policies and procedures are in line with legal requirements and that such policies are updated following any changes in regulations. Liaising with Group entities to get relevant information.
• Ownership and preparation of GL and VAT reconciliations whilst ensuring all relevant entries are reviewed.
• Ownership of analysis of stock on a periodic basis including communication with relevant departments to get timely information.
• Ownership of certain GL reconciliations and accruals including preparation, analysis and follow up on queries.
• Provide cover for other Financial Accounts areas including Payroll and Property Accounts.
• Perform other ad hoc tasks and projects as required by Financial Controller.

Suitable candidates must demonstrate the following:

• Newly qualified ACA/ ACCA with relevant experience (audit experience preferred)
• Previous experience within a similar type of role and can demonstrate strong technical skills with the ability to conclude and make recommendations
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Commercial experience in FMCG/Retail preferred
