To support the growth plans, the business is now looking to appoint a CFO who will be a key member of the Board alongside the CEO, Chairman, Commercial Director and Private Equity Investors, operating as a business partner to the CEO and a member of the Senior Management Team to help develop and deliver the strategic objectives of the organisation.
The CFO will be responsible for providing regular, high-quality management information with detailed insight and analysis to both the CEO and the Private Equity Investors through regular interaction and Board meetings. The CFO will have strategic advisory responsibilities helping the CEO effectively plan and manage the growth and development of the company towards its commercial and financial objectives whilst also ensuring there is an environment of best practice accounting, control and governance. A broad role, the CFO position will also support on wider operational management.
Key Responsibilities;
· Inform and influence decision-making as part of the Board, challenging when necessary and helping both develop and implement robust forward strategies for the organisation.
· Provide the CEO and Board with the required detailed insight and analysis to generate effective financial plans and to prepare investment proposals.
· Lead on any transactional activity. i.e preparation for an eventual exit.
· Develop and provide regular and insightful management accounts, forecasts, analysis and commentary to the Board, highlighting business performance.
· Establish and continue the refinement and interpretation of KPIs.
· Provide detailed financial insight for investment appraisal and develop effective cash-flow forecasting and analysis.
· Manage the annual budgeting and planning cycles.
· Ensure there is an environment of strong financial control and balance sheet integrity underpinned by reliable finance processes and governance across the organisation.
· Management and improvement of the transaction finance processes and finance systems across the organisation to ensure best practice.
· Develop IT systems and take a lead on implementations to enhance efficiency.
· Management of accounting, legal and regulatory compliance across the organisation ensuring all deadlines are met and maintaining an appropriate control environment.
· Lead role on management of capital and liquidity resources to ensure that the company is able to properly plan its working capital needs.
· Monitor cash balances, cash forecast and investment spend
· Develop and supervise tax and treasury management for the business including VAT, and tax compliance.
· Understand, mitigate and manage all elements of the company's risk profile.
· Lead the company's relationship with its auditors and take responsibility for the annual audit of the company's financial statements.
· Represent the company with third party financial managers, banks, tax professionals and accounting firms.
· Responsible for company secretarial duties including insurance and pension liabilities.
Manage, mentor and develop the finance function ensuring there is a performance-driven culture across finance. Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced.
The Person
· Proven and experienced CFO with extensive experience of operating strategically at Board level.
· Qualified Accountant with a sound technical foundation and a detail-orientation.
·
· Relevant industry sector experience (Business Services) preferred, ideally with experience of working within Private Equity-backed portfolio companies.
· Great culture fit with the founder, other members of the Senior Management Team and the wider business.
· Passionate, positive and energised by working in a fast-paced, ambitious, entrepreneurial environment.
· Highly motivated individual with an inquisitive mind and an assured, knowledgeable approach to financial management.
· Experience with IT and the implementation of new systems and processes, combined with a keen interest in Technology.
· Commercially astute individual with the ability to work outside the traditional confines of Finance.
· Ability to interact and build effective relationships at all levels within an organisation as well as with external parties and investors.
· Experience of working in a growth environment and controlling growth through the on-going development and professionalisation of the Finance function.
· Team player who demonstrates a high-level of emotional intelligence combined with good interpersonal and presentation skills.
· Willing to roll their sleeves up though must also be able to delegate and not get lost in the detail.
