Finance Director
Birmingham Diocesan Academies Trust
The SF Group are proud to be working on an exclusive basis with the Birmingham Diocesan Academies Trust to recruit for their newly created Finance Director vacancy.
Birmingham Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) are at the beginning of their journey, and having taken 6 Primary Academies into the Trust at the beginning of the autumn of 2017, are looking to add a further 6 schools the following year, then a further 6 spread over the next two years. BDAT initially see the Trust growing to about 20 schools.
This is a wide ranging senior post within the organisation where, reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead on:
- Overseeing the preparation of an annual draft budget plan for each school in the trust (6 in total)
- Monitoring the financial performance of each individual school and the Trust
- Strategic planning and budgetary management
- Design/implementation of finance processes based on in-depth knowledge of current UK accounting standards
- Procurement, IT functionality and managing wide ranging capital projects
You will bring with you a strong customer focused approach in order to liaise effectively with individual school Head's and their teams.
You will also take the lead in researching additional funding opportunities and advising the various directors, CEO and school Heads on growth activities. You will also lead on relationship management with the Education and Skills Funding Agency and create and develop a central finance and operations department that can support the Trust as a whole. The ideal candidate will have relevant sector experience, hold fully qualified accountant status (ACCA/ACA or similar) and have proven experience of leadership in a multi-site organisation. However the Trust are open to candidates from all backgrounds who have an appreciation of the challenges of the sector, are confident in their business partnering skills and have created finance/operational teams from scratch.

Salary £70,000 + Local Government pension
