Financial Controller

Grafton Banks Finance is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller for an expanding construction/property company with offices in Surrey. You will need to be a fully qualified accountant and have construction or property sector experience in order to apply. You may be a Finance Manager looking for a step up or already working as a Controller. Reporting to the Group FD you will manage a team of five staff and manage the following:

• Production of monthly accurate and timely management statements including reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts

• Lead the production of accurate daily and weekly sales, cash, landbank and KPI reporting

• Ownership of the day to day activity of the finance function ensuring that all controls and procedures are in place and adhered to in order to minimise risk

• Develop a strong working relationship with the key stakeholders of the businesses area and a commercial understanding of the businesses, playing a key role in improving financial performance

• Work closely with the Divisional Finance team in delivering the Divisional/Group finance objectives.

• Overall responsibility for the delivery of timely and accurate statutory and management accounts, including written commentary, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow reporting whilst also monitoring and improving the robustness of the financial processes and controls.

• Monitor and analyse monthly operating results against budget. Effectively understand and challenge all variances and manage and communicate any performance issues.

• Drive the development of improved internal reporting capability in order to show key business financial and non-financial data. 

• Manage the process of full P&L forecasting across the Business Unit

• Review and approve monthly payroll

• Maintain accurate records within the plot database and updating development site budgets
